Mel Krieger Sensei RIP …
Just confirmed via his wife's friend that Mr. Mel Kreiger has passed away after fighting his rare brain illness which had been going for sometime.
Great instructors and enthusiast of fly fishing, and we owe him all the joy and good practice. This is a great loss to the world of fly fishing and he will be missed globally...
May his soul rest in peace, however, he must be already busy fly fishing in all the best places in heaven along with Lee Wulff and Charles Ritz! Gee, another good person flying away...

Great Instructor for Casting
I attended his casting lesson years ago, after watching the VHS copy of his "Essence of Fly Casting". I was overly frustrated on my fly casting that time, for I wanted to debut in lake or ocean which reqired long cast with double haul. Even on his casting school, I was still frustrated from what I can't achieve what seems relatively easy for other people, then he came up to me, fixed my grip and form, and said, "you build your casting, you will love fly fishing." I held on to that word, and it became sooo true afterwards.
No doubt that he was one of the greatest fly fishing instructors I met, and I vividly remembers his child-like grin and enthusiastic approach to show example "easy" going. Moreover, his story telling was amazing and I wished that he did more fly fishing video or I attended his lesson further to know him better. The only video I have now from Mel is Mel Krieger's Patagonia acquired couple of months ago. Great visual and you should see how Mel approach life through fly fishing.
