Looking for Sea Perch – Estuary & Canal, Tokyo
Much frsutrated from citylife, I packed my bag and tackle and called Lou, our new member from France, "Tide is high at 19:45, chance is slim after one typhoon passed by. Would you wanna go?". Lou didn't hesitate at all. So we jumped on Volvo and head for the estuary of Meguro River.
Lou brought his St. Croix Legend Elite 9' 8wt saltwater rod matching with Nautilus NV. He let me try the combination which is quite smooth and rod has power to fight big fish.
As for fishing, both tide and light was perfect, but water temperature stayed low. No perches are actively afloat to play with us in Tennouz Park. I also just purchased a new spin reel that I am very excited to try out.
After having dinner, we moved onto Keihin Canal, but good spots are taken by other anglers who were catching perches in 20-30cm range. I took out my 13 feet two-handed rod and kept spey casting. No luck or sign of perch chasing it. They seemed to stay in the sweet spot behind the bridge foot where they were hunting baby mullets.
So, we caught nothing on this run, but just going out there and play outside really sort out stress from citylife.
