Sweet & Sour Shrimp – Imitation
Closely mimicing rock shrimp or Palaemon pacificus (Stimpson, 1860) who are highly abundant from docks to rocky shores in Japan. Original pattern is Honey Shrimp tied by Kasper Mühlbach which you can find at: http://globalflyfisher.com/patterns/honeyshrimp/
This is the SHRIMP FLY that passed the field test for jacks, rockfish, anchovis, and sea perch. I have seen school of puffer tirelessly attacking this fly for many times over, eventually turning it into a hook with thread.
Before this fly, I've tried many shrimp-like patterns from crazy charlie to Shima Fly, but none of them really worked on Japanese fishes in docks or rocky shores who are under constant pressure from fishermen who use chum and real bait.
