River Nippara – Village of Okutama, Tokyo
Northern most water of Tokyo is this River Nippara, tributary of Okutama River running through Okutama Mountains. One of the largest limestone quarry in Tokyo is located here and centuries of quarries have developed the composition of river rocks mostly made of limestone accordingly.
Idea is to find the pockets between huge rocks which is rather difficult in early spring when meltwater rushes in or in typhoon season when rainwater change the terrain greatly. Best season in mountain creek is always mid spring onward when water is warm enough to produce good hatches.
