Benkei Fishing Club – Akasaka, Tokyo
Surrounded by Otani Hotel and office buildings, right by the raised motorway, Benkei Fishing Club stands out as the most metropolitan fishing venue of Tokyo. Club stocks large mouth bass and rainbow trouts in Benkei Moat which was formerly a part of second circular moat to Castle Edo, today’s Imperial Palace. This moat originally opened as recreational boating pond right after the WWII, had been a free fishery for years, and turned into paid-fishery for about past 10 years.
It makes you feel quite strange to cast fly line in the middle of streets, but woods surrounding the moat will take your mind off streets into the game of fishing in a matter of seconds. Well… you still make a good photogenic character from the perspective of tourists visiting Tokyo looking for something to shoot at. So make sure you dress nicely:)
Species
Large mouth bass, bluegill, snakehead, and carp.
