James Ellery
Hello Everyone,
I’m James Ellery, originally from the U.K., and I’ve been living in Japan on and off for about seven years. I grew up fishing and rediscovered it here, eventually falling in love with trout fishing especially genryu. I started fly fishing about six months ago after always viewing it as a more elegant and beautiful form of traditional fishing and used to watch many youtube videos and decided to go for it. I was incredibly lucky to land a 26cm beautiful orange yamame on a dry fly. I enjoy fishing with my wife, exploring new spots, and sharing my love of the outdoors with my students. Outside of fishing, I enjoy hiking, food, onsen, and exploring Japan.
I would really like to learn more about fly tying and finding nice people to go into the mountains with and catch some beautiful river and lake fish while in great company and learning from others.
