Fly Fishing in South Korea

2010/11/15 Fly Fishing in South Korea

South Korea is home for 2 salmonidae species. Western side of the penninsula facing Yellow Sea hosts lenock (Brachymystax lenok) and the eastern side of the penninsula facing Sea of Japan hosts seema or identical speci of cherry trout.

Old friend from Korea, who went to the same summer school with me back in New York, sent me an email mentioning that he’d rather fish in Japan or Russia for more species available. I’m not to judge it for I haven’t fished in South Korea (been there for business trip several times) yet, and it is the closest location from Japan where you can fish for lenock unless you’d love to travel to China, Mongolia or Pacific Russia.

– Lenock (Brachymystax lenok)
– Cherry Trout (Oncorhynchus masou)
